Obituary for Gerald "Dick" R. Rice Gerald Richard “Dick” Rice, age 84, of
West Branch, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 16, 2017, at the Villa at Rose City. Dick was born July 12, 1932 to
Gerald Rice and Gladys (Reetz) Thompson in Rose City, Michigan. He married Carolyn (Abbs) on August 17, 1958, in West Branch.
After graduating from Rose City High School in 1950, he joined the US Air Force, where he worked in radar communications.
Dick then attended Michigan State University, graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in… Electrical Engineering. After college, he accepted
a job with Western Electric/Bell Labs. His career with AT&T and the Bell System took him and his family to Farmington
Hills, Saginaw, Clarkston, Midland, and twice to New Jersey before retiring to West Branch. In retirement, Dick and Carolyn
were dedicated MSU Football Fans, holding season tickets for many years. Preparations for their elaborate game day tailgates
started mid-week and many were welcomed to join in the festivities. Dick was a member of the Elks Club and was active in
Trinity Episcopal Church, serving in multiple positions, always dedicated to helping make things around him better.
Dick
is survived by his wife, Carolyn, his daughter, Sandy (Rob) Freund, his grandchildren, Drew, Cliff and Evie of Concord, Massachusetts
and his brother, David (Jeannie) Rice of Rose City.
A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, January 23, 2017 at
the Trinity Episcopal Church in West Branch at 11:00 a.m., with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. The Rev. Brian Chace
will officiate. Interment will be at Brookside Cemetery. ***********

Which we put together in 2002..
I attended Michigan State University and graduated with
a BA in Business Education, later added an MA in Vocational Education.
I married Gerald R. "Dick" Rice in 1957 and the following year moved
to New Jersey for four years.
I returned to Michigan and lived in Farmington Hills for the next
fourteen years.
Our daughter, Sandra, was born while living in Farmington Hills.
We moved to Saginaw and then back to New Jersey and once more back
to Clarkston, Michigan.
A move to Midland, Michigan was made in 1986.
We stayed there for several years until retirement.
Our final move was made to West Branch in 1998.
The year 2000 saw the birth of our first grandchild, a boy, born
on November 18, 2000.

My wife, Billie (Lindfores) and I live in West Branch.
We have three children and three grandchildren.
I attended Michigan State University from 1952 - 1954.
I was a member of the United States Marine Corps from 1954-1956.
I returned to MSU and graduated with a BS in Agriculture Education
in 1958.
I retired in 1996 after 38 years in the classroom.
The last 30 years I've reside in West Branch as a middle school teacher.
I also retired as a West Branch volunteer fireman after 30 years.
My hobbies are golf (I don't play well) and camping.

Charlie and I have three children and five grandchildren.
We moved to Georgia from Detroit in 1967, and are still living there.
Even though I graduated from Michigan State and Charlie from the University
of Michigan..we are still married and enjoying life to the fullest.

Wally and I have six children, thirteen grandchildren and
one great grandchild.
We were married in 1953 in St. Joseph Catholic Church in West Branch.
(Wally is Mildred Crawford's brother.)
We lived in a little house we built on Ski Park Road, for two years.
Two of our children were born when we lived there.
Then we moved to Goodrich, Michigan where we lived for thirty two years.
Four more children were born to us there.
After Wally's retirement from GM, we moved to Long Lake by Harrison,
Michigan.
We still live there.
I was diagnosed with MD in December of 2000.
It has not made a difference in my life.

Ron Behrens
Ron was President of the Class of 1952.
He married Beverly Bresser (Class of 1952)
Ron and Beverly had five children, seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
After graduating from WBHS Ron served in the United States Navy for three years.
He spent twenty five years with the Michigan State Police.
After that, he became a District Court Officer, a private investigator, and enjoyed
working around home after retirement.
Molly Best Craft
Molly lives in West Branch...
She has five children...all boys.
She attended Baker University in Flint. She worked at Surline
Middle and Elementary school for twenty eight years.
A very busy person, she was the secretary treasurer of the Ogemaw
Hills Snowmobile Club. She works in ceramics and plays darts (with steel tips), was an officer and bartender for the Eagles.
At present she is the recorder for Women of the Moose.
Molly is a member of the American Legion, Eagles, and Women
of the Moose.

Enola Brace Armstrong
Enola has two children.
After high school graduation, she attended
CMU and graduated, June 1956. After college graduation she worked as an accountant for several businesses including CMU and
Saginaw Valley College. She retired in 1995. Her son, Donald, graduated from CMU and her daughter from Ferris State, who then
went on to get her Masters and PHD.
Willis Brewer
Willis and his wife, Sylvia, live in West
Branch.
They have three children and two grandchildren.
Willis has lived and worked in West Branch for the past fifty
years...at construction and floor covering installation for Morse Clark Furniture Company.
Willis spent two years in the U. S. Army.
