MINUTES BUSINESS MEETING
Jack Hammond conducted the class roll call.
The minutes of the 1999 meeting were read by Kay
Hammond Salazaar and approved as read.
Russell Jackson,Treasurer, reported a balance of
$8,906.67.
Ray Valley, President, offered a tribute to Jack
and Dorothey Hammond in honor of Jack's 41 years of service as Secretary of the Alumni Association. Jack was presented with
a plaque in honor of his service.
West Branch City Police Chief, Howie Hanft, representing
Dale Sheltrown, our state representative, read a special tribute from the State of Michigan to Jack Hammond.
The following slate of officers was presented for
election for 2001-2002:
President-Ray Valley
Vice President-Richard Hamilton
Secretary-Mary Anne Whitchurch Tuck
Treasurer-Russell Jackson
The entire slate was elected by unanimous vote.
NEW BUSINESS
Bill Winslow moved that the following resolution
be accepted:
WHEREAS:
Jack and Dorothy Hammond have served the West Branch
High School Alumni Association for 41 years and
WHEREAS:
Because of their steadfast support and diligent
work the West Branch High School Alumni Association has been able to maintain a roster of its graduates, and
WHEREAS:
Jack, because of health reasons and the loss of
Dorothy, has decided not to seek re-election, therefore be it
RESOLVED:
That the West Branch High School Alumni Association
establish a scholarship to be given annually in their honor, and be it further
RESOLVED:
That the West Branch High School Alumni Association
board, at their winter meeting, set the funding each year, and be it further
RESOLVED:
That this year's funding be $300.
Motion seconded by Judy Gillies Wintermute.
Motion unanimously approved.
Betty Sleeman Verus introduced the class of 1940.
Ray Valley introduced the class of
1950.
Sally Rea introduced the class of
1960.
A drawing was held for a $1000 Canadian bill, donated
by Stanley Firkser. The number 521029 held by Chuck Behrens from the class of 1948, was the winning number.
There being no further business, the meeting was
adjourned by President Ray Valley.
