Shirley Ann Fitzgerald Sauve,class of 1954, 83, of West Branch, currently of Boynton Beach, Fla., passed away Aug. 25
2019, peacefully.
Born Nov. 23, 1935, to Howard Fitzgerald and Helen Besant Fitzgerald in Flint, she loved to reminisce of her childhood
and share old pictures of her family history and life growing up.
Though, the greatest love and joy of her life was her husband Tom, whom she wed on Aug. 15, 1953. They shared a beautiful
life together and Tom took care of her to the end, honoring the vows they took together 66 years ago.
Shirley will now be reunited with the other loves of her life. Her two children, daughter Kathy, who passed away in 2014,
and son Greg, who passed away in 2012; and her youngest grandson, who passed away in 2012. She would always say a mother is
not supposed to outlive her children and grandchildren, and these losses left a void in Shirleys heart that she never recovered
from.
Shirley accomplished much in life, raising a family and then graduating from nursing school in 1970. She worked for Flint
Osteopathic Hospital as an RN before retiring in 1987 to spend summers at the lake and travel during winters. Entering an
early retirement, Shirley was able to spend precious time with her kids, grandkids and great-grandkids. She and Tom traveled
the world, taking cross country trips by motorhome, cruising to Alaska and taking overseas trips to Ireland to name a few,
before settling as snowbirds in Florida. But, no doubt her greatest memories were made at Clear Lake. This is where she spent
time entertaining her grandkids and great-grandkids, playing cribbage and euchre (she was a card shark), fishing, pontooning,
cooking out with neighbors, crafting, scrapbooking, spoiling her puppy dog Mugsy and just enjoying the view.
Shirley may have left this world, but her legacy will live through her only living granddaughter, Andi, who spent countless
summers and time with her very special gramma. These memories will be carried on and passed down to her great-grandchildren
Devyn, Drew, Joslinn and Jayde, whom she had a very special bond with.
Shirley was preceded in death by her mother, Helen Besant Fitzgerald; father and stepmother, Howard and Glendora Fitzgerald;
her children Kathy Peterie and Gregory Sauve; grandson, Jeremy Sauve; brothers, Patrick Fitzgerald and William McCracken;
and her sister, Barb (Bob) Lally.
Per Shirley and Tom’s wishes, no services will be held. But please raise a glass in her memory.
