A note from Burt Parliament
Class of 1942
The man with the hat was Mr. Timkovitch, Ag Teacher,
We were packed to spend a week at Boy's State at MSC
It was not MSU yet. The program was made to teach us the functions of
state and county officials. We elected officials from our group.
At the end of the program our officers got
to spend a day in the state offices with the
real officials to see how decisions were made.
As to the other people in the picture I
think the one on the right was Robert Davis
The car was Mickey Duggan's...

Summary of activities during past year
May 1941 to May 1942
On May 8, ten FFA boys attended the State convention at East Lansing.
We stayed for two days and participated in many judging contests. We also got a good look at the college before leaving.
An FFA picnic was held at Parliament's on June 12. The animal husbandry
class, which lost the seed selling contest last year, sponsored the picnic and invited the farm crops class.
Hns to Future Farmers. Ten boys were raised to Future Farmers.
On October 29 we attended the North Eastern District FFA meeting at
Fairview. It was the first district meeting of the year, so the main purpose of the meeting was to elect officers to take
over the district meeting.
On November 4 we put on a Potato and Apple show at the West Branch
High School. The winning exhibits were then taken to the Northern Michigan Potato and Apple show at Cheboygan.

DISTRICT CHAMPIONSHIP BASKETBALL TEAM |
|
1937 |
Pictured above is the West Branch High School
Basketball Squad that completely upset the dope in winning
the district tournament here. Kneeling, left to right are: Fred Minzer, Jack Schubert, Jess Embury, Herb Bovee, Jack Brown,
and Jack Crandell. Standing, left to right are: Coaches Kern and Hakenen, Zettle, Adrian, Pekrul, Thompson, Preston, Killinger,
Lucas and Supt. A. F. Lucas.
The five players in the back row wearing double numbered
uniforms are members of the strong reserve team.
..From the newspaper...
West Branch High played inspired ball throughout the entire
tournament. No single player could be said to have been outstanding; they all carried out their parts very capably.
Embury, who has been having tough luck with his shots all season, finally found the hoop and was a sparkplug in the newly
discovered knack of winning.
